Tools Page One

These are the tools that I use in my classes, and at my own bench. They are exactly what you need, no more, no less, and designed to last a good long time. Email Anne with any questions. Small brass hammer: for use with fine silver, or for engraving and using as a texture tool. This 2 oz hammer features a high quality brass head threaded into an anodized aluminum handle. 8" long.  $15
German chasing hammer: A nice flat head and pretty angle for ease of use. The handle is hardwood, featuring a wedge and an oblong hole to keep the handle from turning. The slanted design of this tool is ergonomically correct and the head is high quality stainless steel.    $19
Riveting hammer: The narrow end spreads a rivet, the flat end compresses. Handle of seasoned ash. 4 oz., German made.  $14
1.5" Rawhide Hammer: American made, of the finest rawhide impregnated with shellac. Used for work hardening or working metals without leaving a mark. Ash wood handle, 6 oz. $28

The Blazer torch: for fusing fine silver or soldering. A fused joint is simpler, cleaner, and stronger than a soldered one, and if done in fine silver involves no flux, solder, pickle, or messy cleanup.

This is a professional quality butane torch, with a Japanese ignition and an all-metal flame assembly.

This is the ONLY torch to own. It reaches 1800 degrees at point, which is perfect for fusing fine silver.

 

Fills just like a lighter! Please only use triple filtered butane to fuel it.

Kiln Brick: A fusing and soldering essential. The surface of the brick is soft enough to dig channels in, to separate rings when fusing chain or multi-part pieces, and the brick is thick enough so no heat will transfer to your tabletop. You really need one of these. $9.50
Two-hole punch: for punching out a 10- or 14-gauge hole in sheet metal, or PMC.  $30
European Double-Horn Anvil: For hammering and light forming. This miniature anvil is made of casehardened steel.  $32
Bench Block: this makes a lovely portable hammering surface. Use the metal or the wood side to support your work, depending on the effect you are seeking.  $20
Soft Brass Brush: for gently cleaning your silver. This brush also imparts a soft matte glow, perfect for bringing down the shine from over-tumbling.    $10
Curved Burnisher: for rubbing on your metal for a mirror finish gleam.  $5
Red Burnisher set: for burnishing in tight spaces. $14
Beading awl: For all kinds of hole cleanup, PMC work,, and burnishing in tight spaces.  $4.50
Metal Ring Mandrel: for  $35
Round Bezel Mandrel: for hammering chain links and small rings, forming bezels, and shaping decorative ornaments. Stainless steel, 7 3/4" overall length.  $25
Square Bezel Mandrel: used to form bezels, make square links, and shape decorative ornaments, Stainless steel, 11" overall length.  $28
Third Hand: Invaluable for hot work, such as making headpins, or holding pieces in place while soldering or fusing. It features a 6 1/2" long tweezer, mounted on a weighted base, with an articulating mount.  $15

Locking tweezer: for picking up hot things or holding items while fusing. Stay cool fiber handles.
